About AnimatedScience
Animated Science (Bringing Scientific Research to Life) is an ASISTM (Australian School Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics) funded project that is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Science and Training.
Animated Science started as proposal put together by Melbourne Girls Grammar and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre with an aim to ‘Bring Scientific Research to Life’ by providing opportunities for students to engage in real world science through the dissemination of online information and resources from Australia’s largest cancer research group, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre that complement VELS and VCE principles.
All learning materials on this site have been produced by a select group of science teachers from Melbourne Girls Grammar, Ruyton Girls, Shelford Girls Grammar, and Camberwell Grammar. The learning materials could not have been produced without the input, images, guidance and suggestions from the scientists at Peter Mac. All learning materials produced on this site have been subject to a strict selection process to create an up-to-date, state of the art, flexible, powerful, dynamic and interactive learning environment that is available to all teachers and students.
This ASISTM project also includes a summer school that enables students to interact one on one with Peter Mac scientists and become aware of potential career paths in science. The Summer School promises to be an innovative and very exciting exploration of the fields of Bio-medicine and Bio-technology. The participants will comprise academics, researchers, students and other higher education representatives. The school offers senior secondary school science students a rare opportunity to explore the changing face of science in a holistic manner, while also allowing more focused exploration through colloquiums and workshops.
